SOUND: HEARING AND BEING HEARD

Sound transmits culture, information and art. Sound is life itself. Communication takes place through sound. The sounds transmitted by a speaker, by a sound system in a conference hall or museum, provide us with information, we hear the world around us and we feel part of it. We can gauge a person's state of mind from the tone of a voice and the timbre of a speaker. Sound also transmits emotion and magic. Music is poetry composed of sounds and silences. It is an emotion, emphasizing our passions, creating moments of relaxation or excitement. Music is also a magic formula for creating an atmosphere, for arousing people's feelings. All over the world, men and women are united by music as a universal language and they feel part of a world of shared values. Given the importance of sound in our society, be it information, art or music, it has to be reproduced with all the tonal and emotional shades intended by its author.
